As a structure is being constructed, many factors are brought into play when determining safety of the site and the people working on it. Proper attire, trained personal, properly-functioning equipment, everything has to be thought out beforehand to make sure nothing will go wrong. This includes making sure it is secure during the hours that no one is working on the site, as this is the perfect time for individuals to make their way onto the location and either vandalize or steal property. To help protect against that, here are some things to consider when it comes to making sure your construction site is safe and secure.

Securing Your Site

Lighting

Simply have ample lights on your location can make for a safer environment at night. Most thieves or vandals will not take the chance of going to a location when they cannot easily hide. At the same time, motion detector lights are great for keeping people off of your site as well.

Cameras

These can serve a double purpose; the first being video evidence of any intrusion onto your location. But, there is a more proactive reason for having visible cameras on the location, in that it lets everyone know that they are being filmed, deterring people from breaking in.

Remote Monitoring

Your ability to view your property remotely with a camera at the entrance and select locations throughout the site will give you some peace of mind.

Security Guards

Having routine patrols working in tandem with such pieces of technology as was previously listed will have all of your bases covered.

Workplace Security Tips

Let’s Keep Your Work Safe

In this day and age, there seem to be more and more instances of people being attacked while at work. With this, we have seen a rise in security systems being set up to better monitor and protect those working there. That said, it is not only the job of these pieces of technology to keep everyone safe but rather, those working there are also responsible for maintaining an open eye to any potential issues that may arise. These are some tips that could drastically improve the security level of the office.

Have a Safety Coordinator

Having it someone’s job at your office to make sure that any safety drills are conducted, and that everything with the safety features is up to date is an excellent way of making sure of safety accountability. Make sure who you choose has a background in conducting such activities, and has an even head on their shoulders.

Let Your Security be Known

A great way of deterring any criminal activity is having your security known. What that means is, having your cameras prominently displayed, and having signs stating that the location is under a security company’s watch is an excellent way of presenting your site as one that people would not want to take the chance at robbing.

Keep Your Tech Secure

When not open for working hours, it is essential that the valuable property of your company are securely locked away. Nowhere is this more important than making sure that your workplace technology (Laptops, desktops, cell phones, etc.) are locked away, and out of sight. Locking them away like this means that not only are they behind another locked door but that they are not immediately visible to the public eye, thereby eliminating the chance of a spontaneous break-in.

Check All Entry Points

Knowing who is coming in and going out of your office is vital to having a secure workplace. This makes sure that at any time, every person there is accounted for.

Training For All

It is essential that you have routine training for your employees to be able to identify any threats and know how to deal with them. This can be as simple as how to deal with theft, or what to do in the case of an active shooter.

No matter the situation that can present itself, it is the employer's job to make sure everyone is safe at their job site.

There are many things a business needs to succeed in this world. It requires great employees, an expanding client, and a constant stream of revenue coming in. One thing that is often not acknowledged, for one reason or another, is a security system. There are several reasons why they are often forgotten about, and there are answers to these ideas that show that you may be wrong in thinking that way.

Too Expensive

As is the case with most things for a business, most believe it would be too expensive to have a security system installed for the company. Where at one point, the sudden rise in digital camera security meant these new pieces of equipment were expensive at one point, but now there are many, much more affordable pieces of security equipment available to you.

Some businesses are worried about the price of the routine maintenance that will need to be performed. Though you will have to pay for these, they are much less expensive than replacing stolen goods.

Anything is Better than Nothing

Security is one place you do not want to take shortcuts. Fake cameras are often employed as a deterrent, but there is an innate problem with this, there is not legitimate monitoring going on in those areas. Fake cameras mean blind spots, which in turn say anything that happens there is not documented for your protection. This is also true with outdated material, as these are not reliable for your business security.

It’s Too Complicated

Updating and revamping your security system will not take nearly as much time and resources as is often perceived. Make sure everyone working with you or under you are made aware of any changes that occur at your business.

The workplace is rapidly improving in the technological advances it has available to it. Be these surveillance systems, computer hardware, or even vending machines that accept credit cards. These are all things that, through the years have changed and grown to accommodate better those looking to work at an up to date business. One area that is often overlooked is the accessibility of said workplace, and how technology can play a hand in determining who gets in. You may want to consider having an access control system installed on your doors, as there are many viable reasons as to why this would be an excellent option for your entries.

What to Consider

There are quite a few reasons why you should have an access control system installed.

  1. Remote Access- Unlike traditional locks that need a key to both open and lock the door, a control system will only unlock when presented with the correct card. It will also automatically lock when closed, preventing having to lock them manually. This is great for improving security, as it means employees will not have to remember to lock the doors, and by forgetting to do this lead to potential security breaches.
  2. History Records- In the same vein as a time stamp location for checking into work, the doors keep a history of who passed through them and when. Another part related to the security aspect of this system, it allows you to match up any potential theft or disturbance with an individual employee.
  3. Less Expensive in the Long Run- Now where the initial installation may be more expensive than having traditional locks fitted to take into account the long haul of how much will have to be spent. This means new keys made for new employees and maintenance to any that damaged over time. This is much more expensive than the amount making new key cards and overall support.
  4. Faster and Less Hassle- This may be a slight comparison between the two, but imagine the time saved, and the hassle avoided from having to open and lock doors over and over. The overall time spent will be cut down drastically, and you will not have to worry about keys jamming or being potentially broken.
  5. Security- As was already stated, these types of door locks will significantly increase the security potential of the doors. Keycards cannot be as easily duplicated, and lost cards can be reported and made inert.

How to Keep your Security System Up to Date

Wednesday, 27 June 2018 13:19

Nothing is more important in life than our safety. This means passwords to obtain our private information, having safety devices in our cars, all the way down to childproof medicine bottles. The one thing in our life that we want to make sure is always safe is our home. It is where we sleep, where our family grows, and where we house a majority of our most coveted items. This being the case, we must make sure that this too is safe and secure. Many houses now utilize a security system to make sure that there home is safe and secure. This means however that the system may grow old, become outdated, or just plain not be what it takes to ensure for a safe household. Let us examine what you can do to make sure your system is up to date.

How does it Communicate?

Communication is the key to making sure you and yours are secure. Choices in connection include landlines, cellular uplink and via your wireless broadband modem. The modem will be faster than a landline phone, but often not as reliable as a cellular uplink. A cellular uplink will not go down if your landline phone wires are cut. Consider your options carefully before making your decision.

Automated Availability

Some systems offer the ability to use your smartphone in monitoring your home. You can also use this system to control your lighting and thermostat. In this advanced age of technology, you should be able to watch your home when you are away.

Giving Support

Where most older security models would merely have a blaring alarm go off to frighten the intruder, newer models are connected to a system that offers a 24/7 monitoring and support team. This is to help you with peace of mind.

Equipment Check

Make sure your security equipment is checked by your company. Have them test the system, and make sure there is no damage to physical parts of the system.
